Achsah (????)

Susannah (27 Oct 1814-20 Nov 1863) — m. Martin Raymer on 6 Dec 1836

Stephen was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, one of twelve children to Lt. Stephen Noble (16 Apr 1727-1791) and Ruth Church (4 or 11 Jul 1733-4 Jul 1794), who married in 1753. According to son Ambrose, the Nobles were of Scottish descent.

Esther was from West Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, daughter of Thomas W. Smith (6 Nov 1725-????) from Connecticut and Esther Ball (8 Nov 1738-????) from Massachusetts. Accounts that have her born in 1772 are for a different Esther Smith.

Stephen and Esther married on 7 Apr 1790 in Westfield, Hampden County. They moved to Herkimer County, New York sometime between 1795, when Ambrose was born, and 1800.

The 1800 and 1810 census records show Stephen Noble and family in Warren, Herkimer County, New York. A second Stephen Noble showed up in the 1810 census of German Flats, Herkimer County. I don’t know who that was; he was too old to be this family’s Stephen Jr.

Stephen Sr. moved his family to Markham Township, York County, Ontario in 1810. Esther died there in 1814, probably giving birth to Susannah. Stephen died in 1823 at Bay of Quinta, Mariposa Township, Victoria County, Ontario.
