Placide (16 Dec 1788-????) — m. Susanne Huntley about 1810
Jean was the son of Charles Brun and Anne Marie Caissie.
Angélique was the daughter of Pierre dit Peter Doiron dit Gould and Anne Forest, Acadians who from Beaubassin who were resettled at Napan-Maccan in Nova Scotia (Nouvelle-Ecosse), just south of the modern town of Amherst, after the French and Indian War.
Jean and Angélique married on 15 Feb 1772 in Franklin Manor, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Franklin Manor is/was an area of land named for Michael Franklin, a lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia in the 1760s and 1770s. All the Brun children were listed as born in Franklin Manor, or in Elysian Fields. Both place names refer to an area on the peninsula north of Minudie, and west across the tidal river mouth from Amherst.
Around 1818, Jean, his son Placide, and one other family from Minudie left Nova Scotia and founded a hamlet called Les Borgittes near Bas-Cap-Pelé, Westmorland County, New Brunswick (Nouveau-Brunswick). This was reportedly due to land ownership conflicts in Nova Scotia. Bas-Cap-Pelé is 30 or 40 miles due north of the Nappan-Maccan area.
Angélique died in 1827. Jean died in 1831 in Barachois, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, about 10 miles west of Bas-Cap-Pelé.
Madeleine married Louis Latour about 1800. No further information.
Marie has her own entry in the family tree.
Jean married Anne LeBrun (~1809-????), daughter of Barthelemy Pierre LeBrun and Anne Nanon Melanson, on 3 May 1829. Known children:
unnamed boy (Sep 1830-Oct 1830)
Madeleine (8 Dec 1831-????) — m. Hilarion or Pierre LeBlanc on 12 Jan 1852; m. Pierre Leger on 25 Oct 1859
Apollonie (31 Oct 1834-1 Aug 1977) — m. Fidele Bourque on 4 Nov 1858
Jean died in 1837 in Barachois, Beaubassin East, New Brunswick.
Angélique married Pierre Comeau (3 Sep 1768-16 Nov 1844) about 1809. Known children:
Marie (~1809-9 Sep 1872) — m. Joseph Arsenault on 8 Feb 1831
Raphael (6 Oct 1816-6 Apr 1879) — m. Apolline Richard on 11 Jun 1838
Francois (1817-19xx) — m. Marguerite Cormier on 23 Nov 1846; m. Marguerite Bourque
Rose (26 Aug 1823-19xx) — never married
The family lived in Shemogue, Westmorland, New Brunswick. It’s not easy to believe that Angélique was 103 years old when she died in Bas-Cap-Pelé, Westmorland, New Brunswick, but that’s the claim. In the 1901 census for Westmorland, son Francois and daughter Rose were living with the family of Francois’s son Francois Jr.
Bénoni married Maximine “Maxine” Leblanc (~1791-4 Dec 1830) on 30 Apr 1827. They had two children:
John (1829-????)
Charles (23 Nov 1830-19 Dec 1896) — m. Delphine Porelle on 12 Sep 1853
The family lived in Bas-Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick. A few months after Maxine’s death in 1830, Bénoni married Magdaline Brun (~1775-18xx). No record of any more children, which, given Magdaline’s age, is what you’d expect. The 1851 census for Westmorland, which rendered Bénoni’s name as something like “Bellamy Brian”, showed John (22) and Charles (20) still living with their father and stepmother.
Claire married Paul dit Hyppolite Arseneau (~1765-18xx) from Miscouche, Prince Edward Island about 1804. They had 12 children:
Francoise (~May 1805-3 Jun 1907) — m. Jean Haché dit Gallant on 1 Feb 1830
Angelique (~1807-????) — m. Cyprien Gallant about 1826
Joseph (25 Mar 1808-????) — m. Madeleine Arsenault about 1839; m. Madeleine Gallant on 15 Feb 1849

Arey (25 Feb 1819-????) — poss. confused reference to Jean
Marie (~1821-????) — m. Pascal Arsenault about 1850
Alexis (16 May 1821-19xx) — m. Marie Gallant on 15 Nov 1844
Mélème (~1824-????) — m. Charlotte Pineau on 26 Jan 1841
Marie (24 Jun 1824-????)
Pelagie (~15 Nov 1827-19xx) — m. Amand Gallant on 19 Nov 1850
Marie Blanche (10 Jul 1835-23 Sep 1923) — m. Pacifique Richard (or Robichaud) about 1855
The family lived on Prince Edward Island. Claire died in 1880 at Mont-Carmel.
No data apart from dates of birth and death. Unusual.
Placide has his own entry in the family tree.
