Margaret Mary (22 Jul 1815-18 Mar 1853) — m. Thomas H. Watson on 17 Nov 1833
Sarah Ann “Ann” (1825-3 Sep 1860) — m. Ephraim Jellison about 1842; m. Thomas H. Watson on 5 Aug 1855
Almost nothing is known about this family, so this page is a placeholder. According to one unsourced account, Thomas’s wife had the nickname “Indian”, whatever that signifies. The family were reportedly living in Ohio when both daughters were born, but there were lots of Thomas Davises in early 19th century Ohio. There were probably other children.
Margaret has her own entry in the family tree.
Ann married Ephraim Jellison (1816-185x) about 1842. He was from Somerset or Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, reportedly the son of Ephraim Jellison (1773-8 May 1846) and Isabella Jordan (1778-2 Oct 1841). Known children:
Robert (1843-after 1880)
Lewis C. (1846-after 1860)
William W. (1849-????) — prob. died young
The 1850 census showed them in Pike Township, Jay County, Indiana with sons Robert (6), Lewis C. (4), and William W. (1), all born in Indiana.
CAUTION: There were two other Ephraim Jellisons of similar age who also show up in the 1850 census, although they were both in Ohio at the time. One, born 1810 in Pennsylvania, married a Mary Ann who was also from Pennsylvania, lived at first in Preble County, Ohio, later in Wells County and Wabash County, Indiana, died in 1893, and is buried back in Wells County. The other, born 1815 and sometimes listed (falsely, I think) as being from Ohio, married a widow named Sarah Poff in 1855 in Preble County, Ohio, was also living in Wabash County by 1870, and died and was buried there in 1896. Given their names and matching locations, they were almost certainly all related. The 17 Dec 1842 wedding of an Ephraim Jellison to an Anna Malin in Jay County, Indiana, could have been any of the three men, but, given that two of them were still in Ohio, I suspect it was the wedding of Ann Davis and the record just got her last name wrong.
Ephraim died in the early 1850s. Ann married Thomas Watson, the widower of her sister Margaret, in 1855 in Randolph County, Indiana. She had two children with Thomas before her death in 1860. See that family’s page for details.
Son Robert remained unmarried and working on the Maries County, Missouri farm of his stepfather Thomas Watson until at least 1880. No trace of him thereafter; the Robert Jellison from Indiana who married Lydia Ball and moved to Kansas was someone else. Son Lewis was with his mother and stepfather in the 1860 census, but likewise disappears after that. Son William doesn’t appear in any records after 1850.
